18WT 026:  In 2019 the Rockefeller Institute of Government study that found homicide rates were 10% lower in states that require background checks for all handgun sales than in states that don't.

"The party lines just fall away when it becomes an issue of family or personal safety," said Kelly Ann Pidgeon, a licensed firearms safety instructor.

In 2018, the Switzerland-based Small Arms Survey estimated that there were more than 393 million guns in US households, making America the number one country on the planet for gun ownership

  • National Rifle Association~ bankruptcy bid was shot down by a federal judge on May 11, 2021
  • less-active role in the current gun control debate

Other pro-Second Amendment groups

  • National African American Gun Association
  • DC Project, (women-centered firearms education)
  • Pink Pistols, (LGBTQ gun group)
  • AAPIGO (Asian American and Pacific Islander Gun Owners)   **Now APAGOA - (Asian Pacific American Gun Owners Association)**
  • National Shooting Sports Foundation, (a firearms trade group)

AAPI GO's co-founder, Scott Kane, 37, is White, but his wife and the couple's 8-year-old daughter are Chinese American.

Never felt the need to own a gun until his family was the victim of a hate crime a year ago. new to gun ownership backs The President's plan to expand gun background checks.

Kane said he purchased his first two firearms — a Springfield XD 9mm handgun and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle —

Doesn't approve of banning AR-15s, which he said have less recoil than a shotgun and are safer to use for home defense.

According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation ~ Women and Black Americans were also the driving forces behind a 40% surge in first-time gun buyers through the first four months of 2020.

In 2020, the NSSF estimated that 21 million guns were sold in the US, more than any year on record. That trend has continued this year with additional record-setting sales figures in January and March, the second highest month ever for firearm sales.

"You see videos of people being harassed and violence being committed against them on the streets, but in your state probably carrying around a gun might be illegal," Pan added. "It might also be that carrying a gun might provoke other unintended consequences that put you in harm's way."

There are tons of Risks for people who may not be fully trained to handle a firearm or store it properly.

10 RULES OF SAFE GUN HANDLING

  1. ALWAYS KEEP THE MUZZLE POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION
  2. FIREARMS SHOULD BE UNLOADED WHEN NOT ACTUALLY IN USE  (I disagree, when it comes to home safety, who has time to stop and load a gun? Unless they have a speed loader for a revolver or a loaded clip?)
  3. DON’T RELY ON YOUR GUN’S “SAFETY”
  4. BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT’S BEYOND IT
  5. USE CORRECT AMMUNITION
  6.  IF YOUR GUN FAILS TO FIRE WHEN THE TRIGGER IS PULLED, HANDLE WITH CARE!
  7. ALWAYS WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION WHEN SHOOTING (I disagree again, I am not going to stop and put on safety gear before I protect my home) Unless I owned a bulletproof vest. I would totally put that on if my home were being broken into. I would keep it y the bed! Isn’t that sexy?!
  8. BE SURE THE BARREL IS CLEAR OF OBSTRUCTIONS BEFORE SHOOTING (Keep your weapon in good shape and clean and this will not be an issue. You will not have time when your home is being broken into, to stop and clean a weapon)
  9. DON’T ALTER OR MODIFY YOUR GUN, AND HAVE GUNS SERVICED REGULARLY
  10.  LEARN THE MECHANICAL AND HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FIREARM YOU ARE USING

Ghost guns - kits containing nearly all of the components and directions for finishing a firearm within as little as 30 minutes. These are being banned in most states and President Biden has attempted legislature nationwide.

Shoulder stocks and arm braces for pistols are also on the ban list. I am sure there is much more on this list, like a LAW (light anti-tank weapon) or a bazooka or a submachine gun, but who’s counting?
